The Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome Foundation has a special packet of education and emotional support for parents who give birth to babies after a pregnancy with twin to twin transfusion syndrome who need the extra special care of a neonatal intensive care unit.
In the 'parent version' of the TTTS book, we send a sample booklet for parents to be introduced to the NICU and the special care that their babies might need if they are born prematurely. If your patients do experience the NICU with their babies, please tell them to call The Foundation and we will mail them a 'complete' packet overnight express. We can also connect parents with other mothers who have experienced their babies in the NICU after a pregnancy with twin to twin transfusion syndrome.
We place so much trust in the angels involved in the NICU units. They are truly fighting for babies in every possible way. We encourage parents to have their babies in the same isolate. This has been very important and helpful for twins to stay together as they have been for such a long time. They actually do better this way according to studies we have read. Twins should always be together. This is something you can encourage your patients to advocate for.
